So, as Spike noted earlier, radio host Glenn Beck is going to do a live “recreation” of H.G. Welles’ ‘War of the Worlds’, based on the classic 1938 Mercury Theatre mindfuck.

While I admire anyone who wants to bring back, even for a moment, the days when radio was not only live and spontaneous, but also the premiere form of popular entertainment, I have to ask…what was wrong with the original broadcast that it needs to be “recreated”? I don’t know. Maybe I’m just getting old. Or maybe I’m just a purist.

Next I suppose I’m going to find out that someone’s preparing a 20th anniversary tribute/cover album of Van Halen’s “1984”.
