Comedian Meany Arrested at San Francisco Airport
“He got into a little jostling match with the National Guard, and at some point his hand came into contact with the butt of the gun,” Ratti says, adding that he doesn’t believe Meaney was intentionally trying to grab the weapon.

Crooner Uses Computers to Replace Sheet Music

(Just as an aside…you’ll note he’s using Macs…)

…and then I’m going to let it go for now.

I. Hate. Comcast.

That is all.

So, I’ll be the first to admit, the pauses between new posts around here are worse than the lags between new They Might Be Giants albums. But this time (like most others), I have a valid reason. Last week I sent my spiffy, relatively new Powerbook G4 back to Apple for an upgrade. In the interim, I had my old computer (the Mac Performa 6400 – or as I affectionately refer to it, the “Shitbox”) in standby for just such an occasion, but as I had to work over the weekend, I didn’t spend much time by the computer. A cold on Monday and Tuesday kept me out of commission for the most part, and I’ve been so busy the last couple of days, I just haven’t had time to post the goofy shit I usually post.

And that’s been my week. Work, sleep, and NyQuil. I finally got my Powerbook back tonight (Apple is restoring my faith in computer companies – they said the turnaround would be 5 days, and I had my computer back in 4), and I think the next few days at work should be a little less stressful. (I hope, anyway.) With any luck, I’ll be back to my regular posting schedule in no time.

Bank card thief phones victim for Pin numbers

Why, you ask? Well, for one, I’m too lazy to move over to something like Moveable Type or GreyMatter, although I have considered both. So I figured, if I’m going to stick by Ev and Blogger, I should support the work. And I’m I’m going to pay to support the work, I might as well get something out of it too.

(Wait – this is starting to sound really self-serving.)

Anyway, this will also aid some plans I have for the site. I hope to start posting longer “rants” to the “My $0.02” page, and I’m going to make that Blogger-based too, when I’m ready. But hopefully my $3 a month will help Ev improve the system.

Kevin Smith’s Latest Film to Debut on ‘The Tonight Show’
The six-minute short comedic film, “The Flying Car,” stars Brian O’Halloran and Jeff Anderson reprising their roles from “Clerks.”

Aw, man…this means I’ll HAVE to watch (horribly unfunny) Jay Leno’s show next week. Crap!

The hamstring injury that has been pestering brakeman Gea Johnson reared its head again tonight, and she and the Official Random Thought Olympic Babe finished in 5th place – respectable, but out of medal contention. It’s ok, though – she’s only 23, and still has time for another Olympics in four years. So, to the ORTOB, Jean Racine, and her partner, you did your best. And to Brakken and Flowers, the USA-2 sled, congratulations on your gold medal. Even if it didn’t go the way everyone expected, the US still came away with gold. But watch out for the ORTOB in Turino!

As promised, here’s a much more flattering picture of the Official Random Thoughts Olympic Babe, Jean Racine of the US Women’s Bobsleigh Team.

She and her new brakeman, Gea Johnson, go for a medal in the Women’s finals tonight. Go USA-1!
