George Thorogood and the Destroyers…of what?
As usual, Penny Arcade! is reading my mind…

My day’s ruined. How’s yours?

…then Decide: Continuing the recent string of pointless lawsuits, Activision is suing Viacom for under-promoting and generally watering-down the Star Trek franchise. But is Activision right?
SF lawyer says he’s dropping suit against Oreo cookies
I’m going to extract two quotes from the article, mainly because they prove my point, both about the Big Idiot Fathead Lawyer and the case in general:
[Joseph] expressed no remorse for using California courts as a publicity tool.
You see, this is what pisses me off about lawyers and the legal system. You shouldn’t use the courts for free publicity. The courts are there to make law, not to allow you to get on Headline News or score some quick bucks. It’s the same problem I have with the Spike Lee v. SpikeTV case. Ugh.
Kraft received more than 250 e-mails concerning trans fat in the days following news of the suit. Most of those e-mails were in support of the company, Mudd said.
I’m glad to see that at least that many Americans recognize a frivolous lawsuit and a greedy publicity-hound big idiot fathead when he shows himself.
Well, another weekend is pretty much in the books. I can’t say it was overly exciting – Stacey and Jen were supposed to have their housewarming party yesterday, but it got called off. We did see Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle last night…I’m not sure if I’ll be writing a re-view of it, because action films are so tough to review to begin with. I did enjoy it, although Darren wouldn’t stop grousing because we went to Marketfair instead of his beloved AMC Hamilton 24. (“The sound is terrible! I can feel people kicking me in these seats! You mean I’m going to have to get ANOTHER card?”, and so on.) And Denise’s family was over at the AoF today, and I narrowly staved off an invasion by the forces of Abby and Sean.
In other news, it looks like I’ll be closing on the condo in Canal Pointe on July 8, with construction to begin immediately thereafter. We’re shooting for move-in on July 26. I’ll keep everyone posted regarding a housewarming gettogether.
A happy 39th birthday to “Buffy” creator Joss Whedon.
Cue the zombies, demons, and vampires.
Had I been home a bit more this past weekend, I certainly wouldn’t have missed this…
BBC NEWS: Bush fails the Segway test
…and you know what that means…time to CAPTION THIS!

Just a quick update to my post from earlier today (yesterday, whatever). I had speculated just how long this day would be. Well, I left the AoF to take Denise and Spike to Philadelphia International Airport at 7:30am, and I didn’t get back from New York until about a quarter to ten. So, (initial) door to (final) door, about 14 hours, 15 minutes. Give or take a few.
For the record, Dunkin Donuts’ Lemonade Coolatta es muy bueno. Especially after a day like today. (Sticky from the humidity, then wet from the rain, then back to sticky. Yeech.)
Tomorrow’s another long day – rehearsal at 12, then possibly the raindate for dinner with my father (along with the WWE Bad Blood PPV), depending on what time I can get finished in the city. I’m hoping we won’t run longer than 5-ish, but more than likely, that’s a pipe dream.
