Living in The Future?:
BBC News | UK | How much of Blade Runner has come true?

Sorry I haven’t been very talkative lately. I’m waiting to hear about something pretty important, and I guess it’s been weighing on my mind.

From the “No Good Deed Goes Unpunished” department:
My pal Jeremy was suspended from his job for two days. He’s a security guard for the retirement villages down in Brick, and he’s probably the most reliable guy they’ve got. He’s always there, never leaves his post, will work double shifts (no questions asked), and is always willing to cover for another guard. So why was he suspended? He was ten minutes late on Saturday. Apparently the owner of his company wanted to fire him on the spot, but the office staff talked her down.

It seems that the owner wanted to make an example out of Jeremy. Never mind the fact that the turnover rate at their company is astronomical, never mind the fact that they’re losing villages because of inept staff. None of that’s important, as long as she can make an example out of Jeremy. People like this owner deserve to be loaded into a cannon and shot into an active volcano. But that’s just my opinion.

BBC News: Stay young and foolish, says Tiger star
Chinese film star Chow Yun-Fat, hero of Ang Lee’s martial arts epic Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, says the key to staying young is stupidity.
“You see I am very stupid. I don’t understand or talk well. I am an idiot. Be like this every day and then you’ll look young,” the 45-year-old actor said.
Chow Yun-Fat, known as Hong Kong’s Harrison Ford, is best known for his roles in John Woo movies and opposite Jodie Foster in Anna and the King.

“We used the job as part of military planning and logistics exercise, and see this as part our contribution towards Lord of the Rings, of support for New Zealand,” said army spokesman Warren Inkster.

Up every morning just to keep a job
I’ve got to find a way through the hustle and mob
Sounds of the city poundin’ in my brain
While another day goes down the drain… (yeah yeah)

Sorry I didn’t get a chance to post anything yesterday – I had an incredibly long (but productive) day in NY that I can’t really talk about just yet. But soon…very soon…

Well spin my nipple-nuts and send me to Alaska. The Google search box I added to the side frame looked fine on my Mac last night. Today at work, on my NT workstation…not so much. Back to the drawing board, I guess.
