A few of the old Stagedoor gang got together last Wednesday night in the city. Here’s a couple of photos.

Everyone loves the holiday season, or so many people would lead us to believe. Those people, tho, would be full of shite.

I don’t like the holiday season. I don’t have anything against any one holiday, and (surprise) it’s not because I’m a “Jew at Christmas”. No. The holidays, you see, are about being around ‘loved ones’, or, taken more literally, your significant other. There’s one problem with that – I don’t have a significant other. Never have, actually. Probably never will. So every year, when the holidays roll around, I get to look at all the trappings of the season, and the happy couples kissing under the mistletoe, & kissing on Christmas Eve, & kissing on New Year’s Eve, and I remember just how alone I am in this world. After 27 years, it starts to take its toll.

In the past, if I’ve ever felt overly uncomfortable, I would make some weak excuse and remove myself from a “holiday situation”. Sure, it means I’d be sitting alone in my room all night, but at least I could deal with my issues in my own way. This year, tho, not only am I surrounded by couples (living with one, best friends with another), but within my own apartment I’m going to be surrounded by the crap that makes me want to hate this time of year. Normally, I could deal with either of those issues individually. But I am having a little trouble (ok, more than a little trouble) dealing with both of the same time. So if I seem a little bitter/angry/upset/emotional/unable to deal, or you hear what you’d swear is sobbing coming from my room, you know why.

You may also find this interview with Marina Sirtis interesting.

It’s official. “Firefly”, the endearing space western series from Buffy creator Joss Whedon, has been cancelled.

I feel a bit guilty about this, since I really liked the show, but because of it’s “Friday at 8” timeslot, I would never remember it was on. Usually I’d be out at dinner or the movies, and I’d forget to program the TiVo. (I had meant to set a season pass ages ago…but I got distracted by something shiny.) So now it’s gone. Hopefully UPN or the WB will pick up the show and give it a proper timeslot and some publicity beyond the summer before the premiere. (It also proves that FOX doesn’t know crap about marketing to Joss’ audience.)

So, I got this Earthlink account. I’ve had it ever since Darren, Bry and I lived in New Brunswick about 5 years ago. After I had moved back home and my parents got a cable modem, I held on to the Earthlink account, in case I ever went on the road with my laptop. But since then, I haven’t bothered to check that e-mail account, since I’ve always had people send mail to my iName, and later to my m-dnovember.com e-mail addresses.

So tonight, on a lark, I decide to log into Earthlink’s WebMail facility and see how that account was doing. The mailbox had reached it’s 10mb limit. The mailbox contained something in the neighborhood of 1000 new messages. All of the messages – all 10mb worth – were unsolicited spam.

Thanks, Earthlink.

From The New York Times, the story of an author desparate for exposure…and how the Giant Corporate Overlord sticks it to the little guy. Kinda.

Well, here’s a shock…

So, it’s brought to my attention that it’s been a while since I’ve posted anything. It wasn’t intentional – really, it wasn’t.

See, I’ve been distracted. Over the last two weeks, I’ve been so busy at work, I haven’t been able to pay attention to you, the few loyal readers I have left. Between the two or three major projects that have been coming due, all the day-to-day work, and the little matter of having to move our offices from one building on the ETS campus to another, I’ve been pulled in about 20 different directions. Thankfully, I’m all moved into my new cubicle (or, as ETS likes to call them, “pods” – boy, doesn’t that sound “friendly”?), and there’s just unpacking to deal with. Plus, there’s this holiday, with the turkey, and the stuffing, and the…*drool*

Now, granted, I haven’t been at work ALL the time – I’ve seen a couple of movies (“Die Another Day”, which I really liked, and “Punch-Drunk Love” which I really didn’t), I endured a game of Risk with Darren and Ward, and there’s been much playing of the Mechassault. But, as you’ll notice, those activities have me away from the PowerBook. Hense, not very much in the way of updatey goodness.

That should change in the next couple of weeks. Plenty of time off. Parties parties parties. And all those holidays. All that means pictures. There are a ton of movies to be see, which means a ton of movies to review (and possibly rip apart). And Becca will be home! So many updates to come. And, no doubt, some photos to caption.
