{"id":768,"date":"2007-03-06T23:29:24","date_gmt":"2007-03-07T04:29:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.m-dnovember.com\/?p=768"},"modified":"2007-03-06T23:29:24","modified_gmt":"2007-03-07T04:29:24","slug":"progress-update-the-pre-sxsw-checklist","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.m-dnovember.com\/?p=768","title":{"rendered":"Progress update:  The Pre-SXSW Checklist"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Late last week, I posted the list of things I needed\/wanted\/probably should do before I leave for SXSW on Friday.\u00a0 Let&#8217;s see how I&#8217;m doing:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strike><strong>Dentist<\/strong><\/strike> &#8211; done.\u00a0 No cavities, nothing unusual on the x-rays.\u00a0 In other words, no news is good news.<\/li>\n<li><strike><strong>Supermarket<\/strong><\/strike> &#8211; done.\u00a0 Although a side-trip to Target to get some socks ended in disappointment.\u00a0 (Damn my giant feet.)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Laundry<\/strong> &#8211; in progress.\u00a0 And I&#8217;ll probably still be doing laundry on Thursday.\u00a0 What can I say?\u00a0 I like my clothes clean.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Haircut<\/strong> &#8211; tomorrow night at 7.\u00a0 I&#8217;m not planning to come to Austin bald or anything&#8230;just a trim.<\/li>\n<li><strike><strong>Check with Continental<\/strong><\/strike> &#8211; done.\u00a0 Not only that, but I got my OnePass Elite status sorted out too.\u00a0 (Squeaky wheel = grease.)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Get some damn sleep<\/strong> &#8211; trying.\u00a0 Really, I&#8217;m trying.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Tie up loose ends at work<\/strong> &#8211; ongoing, but losing ground.\u00a0 I&#8217;m not where I wanted to be by the end of Tuesday.\u00a0 (Especially since I&#8217;m trying to finagle things so I can take a half-day on Thursday.)\u00a0 Mainly, I&#8217;m plagued by committee issues &#8211; the committee this week in Sacramento is all set, but next week&#8217;s committee still needs to be nailed down.<\/li>\n<li><strike><strong>Maybe buy the FastMac 62wh battery<\/strong><\/strike> &#8211; decided against it.\u00a0 The battery has gotten some good reviews, and it&#8217;s less expensive than the genuine Apple battery, but even with the extra 2wh, I&#8217;d still need to plug in at the ACC at some point during the day.\u00a0 Instead, keeping with the battery theme, I sprung for a set of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/eneloop-Position-Re-Charger-Rechargeable-Batteries\/dp\/B000IV0REA\/ref=pd_ys_qtk_rvi_img\/103-1355980-6683038\" title=\"Amazon:  Eneloop batteries w\/ charger\">eneloop rechargable AA batteries<\/a> for my camera. \u00a0 They&#8217;re still NiMH, but they use some new technology to prevent the batteries from discharging when not in use.\u00a0 (They also ship pre-charged, so&#8230;bonus.)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Hit Franks Big &amp; Tall for new threads<\/strong> &#8211; Thursday, hopefully.\u00a0 But I did order some new causal <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nbwebexpress.com\/detail.asp?type=DNMFCACG&amp;style=MCR812PB\" title=\"Dunham 812 Adirondack Hewitt\">Dunham slip-ons<\/a>, just in time for Austin.\u00a0 (I hope.\u00a0 I had to spring for overnight shipping.)<\/li>\n<li><strike><strong>Make karaoke happen<\/strong><\/strike> &#8211; it&#8217;s on like Donkey Kong.\u00a0 Opal Divine&#8217;s Penn Field, Friday at 9:30PM &#8211; check the <a href=\"http:\/\/upcoming.org\/event\/156299\/\" title=\"Interactive Karaoke!\">Upcoming listing<\/a> for more details.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Find a new book<\/strong> &#8211; tomorrow, maybe.\u00a0 I&#8217;ve got a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.borders.com\" title=\"NOT the Giant Corporate Overlord\">Borders<\/a> gift card burning a hole in my pocket, and I&#8217;m itching to use it, but I&#8217;ve still got a decent chunk of <em>An Empire of their Own<\/em> left, so I&#8217;m debating.\u00a0 (I thought about bringing the gift card with me to use at the SXSW bookstore, but alas, it&#8217;s been taken over by the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bn.com\" title=\"The Giant Corporate Overlord\">Giant Corporate Overlord<\/a> this year.)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Looking everything over, I guess I&#8217;m not doing too badly.\u00a0 Friday can&#8217;t be here soon enough!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Late last week, I posted the list of things I needed\/wanted\/probably should do before I leave for SXSW on Friday.\u00a0 Let&#8217;s see how I&#8217;m doing: Dentist &#8211; done.\u00a0 No cavities, nothing unusual on the x-rays.\u00a0 In other words, no news is good news.
